Eid el-Fitr: Police presence increased with 2,500 personnel across 25 LGAs in Niger
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, has made an important announcement regarding the security measures for the upcoming Eid celebrations.
In order to ensure the safety of the public, over 2,500 personnel and operational assets will be deployed to provide adequate security coverage at all Eid praying grounds across the 25 local government areas of the state.
This extensive deployment aims to create a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after Eid el-Fitr.
Additionally, Commissioner Danmamman revealed that police officers have been assigned to various recreational centers, amusement parks, and other public places, including critical infrastructure, to further enhance public safety.
This comprehensive approach will guarantee a peaceful environment for everyone.
The announcement was made during a meeting held in Minna on April 8, 2024, where the Commissioner directed the Department of Operations, area commanders, tactical commanders, and DPOs to deploy massively and utilize operational assets to dominate public spaces.

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of visibility policing with constant supervision and urged officers to conduct confidence-building patrols throughout the state.
This proactive approach aims to instill a sense of security in every nook and cranny of the region.
Furthermore, Danmamman made it clear that horse racing within the metropolis would not be permitted, except in designated areas.
The officers were informed that an operation order had been issued for the occasion, providing necessary guidance and instructions.
The Commissioner assured them that the police, along with other security agencies, would be firmly present to swiftly address any potential threats to public peace.
