The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Friday, January 24, 2025, as they attempted to leave Lagos State. During questioning, they admitted their involvement with a gang consisting of four members, two of whom had already been neutralized earlier.
The statement partly read: “Upon their arrest, the suspects were found with Two Million, Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N2,250,000), a portion of the demanded ransom. Additionally, authorities recovered two locally fabricated rifles and 11 live cartridges.”
The statement mentioned that Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun praised the operatives “for their bravery in capturing these suspects and urged them to uphold this high level of skill in combating crime in all its forms.”
Adejobi reiterated the police’s dedication to enhancing public security, emphasizing their unwavering commitment to “minimizing crime as much as possible and promoting peace throughout the nation.”
Folashade Odumosu, the wife of the retired Assistant Inspector General (AIG), was kidnapped last Thursday at her home entrance in Arepo, located within Ogun State’s Owode Local Government Area.
The kidnappers forced the former AIG’s wife from her Lexus SUV and led her through a swampy area to an undisclosed location.
On Thursday, Channels Television reported that Mrs. Odumosu was rescued by operatives from the Nigeria Police Force and regained her freedom on Wednesday.
It was reported that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, headed the operation responsible for rescuing the retired AIG’s wife. During this mission, some of the kidnappers were reportedly eliminated.
