Katsina police successfully arrest three suspected gunrunners in a recent crackdown, targeting illegal weapons trade in the region.
Three individuals suspected of gunrunning have been apprehended in Katsina state by the police.
On Friday, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Command revealed this fact to journalists during a news conference.
He stated that the suspects had a substantial amount of ammunition which was found and seized.
On August 29th, around 12:45am in the Dutsina Local Government Area of the state, Aliyu reported that the police had apprehended a group of three individuals.

According to him, the suspected individuals were caught red-handed trying to transport 740 rounds of live ammunition (7.62mm) to armed bandits in Yauni forest, Ummadau village located in Safana LGA within Katsina State.
According to the PPRO, initial investigation suggests that an individual in Nasarawa State provided the suspects with ammunition for delivery to Harisu. This Harisu is a notorious bandit leader who remains at large.
He added that they had admitted their participation and implicated Harisu as the mastermind.
According to him, the authorities were exerting great effort in apprehending additional suspects and ensuring they face legal consequences.
He said that this accomplishment showcases our dedication to tackling armed banditry and gunrunning in Katsina State and other areas.
