Police nab 6 suspected drug kingpins, cultists in Akwa Ibom

Police in Akwa Ibom have arrested six individuals suspected of being drug kingpins and cultists. Learn more about the operation and its outcomes.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command achieved a noteworthy triumph in the fight against crime by capturing six suspects believed to be drug lords and members of a cult group during an operation on an infamous refuge situated in Afaha Offiong community, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

The operation was conducted based on reliable intelligence reports of illegal undertakings in the region, as directed by CP Waheed Ayilara, State Commissioner of Police.

ASP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), provided a detailed account of the success of the operation while addressing members of the press at Ikot Akpanabia headquarters.

ASP John explained that our operatives were mobilized to the community based on the intelligence we had received. As a result of this swift action, six male suspects believed to be involved in cultism and drug trafficking were apprehended.

Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Micheal, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia have been identified as the suspects. They were discovered with two bags that contained substances suspected to be Indian hemp in addition to what appeared like cocaine and several illicit mixtures.

John, an ASP, confirmed to the public that ongoing investigations are underway and increased measures are being taken toward capturing additional members of the syndicate who remain at large.

She emphasized that the Command is fully committed to eliminating criminal elements from Akwa Ibom State.
