In the wee hours of Monday, unidentified gunmen abducted two victims from the Jebba locality in Kwara State.
They are Kola Sikiru Bosere, a businessman in the charcoal industry, and Philemon, his helper.
The gunmen attacked the businessman Kola Sikiru Bosere’s home in the Jebba neighbourhood.
At around midnight, the alleged kidnappers broke into Sikiru’s home in the Labour Camp neighbourhood of Jebba, in the Moro Local Government of Kwara State.
Along with his assistant Mr. Philemon, Sikiru was carried away by the gunmen. Sikiru exports charcoal to other nations.
Sikiru has not been seen since, but Philemon was later freed.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Philemon is presently receiving medical attention at a private hospital in Jebba.
SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the Kwara State Police Command’s police public relations officer, confirmed the event and added that the police have since started a search and rescue effort.
He said in a statement on Monday that “a case of kidnapping was received early this morning, one victim already rescued while efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim and possibly arrest the kidnappers.”
