An alleged member of the Eastern Security Network, the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been neutralised by agents of the Enugu State Police Command working with citizens from the state Neighbourhood Watch Group.
His gun and ammunition were also found by the security agencies along with other exhibits.
In a statement released on Sunday night and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, the police made this disclosure.
Ndukwe claims that the suspect was murdered on Saturday at around 10:45 p.m. at the Igbele village by the Amachala road in the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area when the victim and his accused group fired on the security forces.

The state police commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu, allegedly came up with new policing techniques to get rid of persistent criminals, according to the police chief, who claimed that’s how the achievement was accomplished.
He said that the NPF Special Forces and the Igbo-Eze North Police Division are responsible for the operation’s operatives.
The achievement was the result of the operatives’ prompt action in reaction to reliable intelligence about the renegades’ heinous criminal acts. The renegades blocked the route in large numbers and started shooting at them.
However, the Operatives tactically returned fire at a higher level, causing several more members of the criminal organisation to flee with varied degrees of bullet wounds.
According to Ndukwe, the CP has praised the team for a job well done and reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to continuing the assault on persistent offenders.
However, he urged the people of Enugu State to continue aiding the police in their efforts to purge the state and society of criminal elements.
