Two alleged kidnappers have reportedly been detained by the Yobe State Police Command’s agents in Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

In a statement made available to OBASANJO NEWS on Wednesday in Damaturu, the command made this announcement through its public relations officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

The residents of Banbangida and several areas of Dapchi, in the Bursari Local Government Area, have reportedly been terrorised by suspected kidnappers Musa Alh Tahiru, 28, and Adamu Manu, 25.

He claimed that the suspects were caught after the operatives effectively started a manhunt for the syndicate in response to numerous kidnapping complaints in the area.

The following was part of the statement:

“On August 29, 2023, at around 16:40 hours, information was obtained indicating a kidnapping occurrence in which a group of seven (7) individuals armed with an AK-47 rifle and other lethal weapons broke into a hamlet at Mongono village via Tarmuwa LGA and kidnapped two individuals.

After three weeks in captivity, the victims managed to escape from their captors after the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000.00), which they were unable to pay.

“In the same vein, on August 29, 2023, at around 1500 hours, the culprits, a group of four, besieged one of their earlier victims and severely injured him in the process. They then forcibly carted away his possessions and the sum of Four Thousand Naira (N4,000.00), as well.

“The victim is now recovering after being later rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention.”
