The renowned armed robber and serial killer Sunday Wisdom was neutralised by members of the Akwa Ibom State police command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team as they tried to avoid capture, according to the command.
In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, on Thursday, Wisdom who was in the command’s wanted list for robbing and killing innocent people in Ikot Ambang, Ikot Efun, Ikot Inuan, Itak, Ikot Osukpong, Okobo Ibiono all in Ibiono Local Government Area of the State was a remnant of a dreaded armed robbery gang, led by the late Malachi Uwem Friday.
According to the statement, before being defeated, Wisdom fired at the police officers trying to arrest him.
In the statement, it is stated that Wisdom Sunday Akpan, one of the most dangerous armed robbers on the Akwa Ibom State Police Command’s wanted list, who has displaced innocent Akwa Ibomites, primarily residents of Ikot Ambang, Ikot Efun, Ikot Inuan, Itak, Ikot Osukpong, Okobo Ibiono, etc. in Ibiono LGA and parts of Uyo LGA
“The aforementioned Wisdom is a survivor of a notorious armed robbery group, led by the late Malachi Uwem Friday, who fired at police officers trying to apprehend him.
According to the statement, before being defeated, Wisdom fired at the police officers trying to arrest him.

“The aforementioned Wisdom is a survivor of a notorious armed robbery group, led by the late Malachi Uwem Friday, who fired at police officers trying to apprehend him.
He killed Nsikan Vincent Udo of Ikot Inua village on 22 July at the Ikot Efun crossroads before escaping on his brand-new Q-link motorbike.
“On the eighth of July, he shot Jesse Johnson and two other people in a POS store at the intersection of Ikot Ambang, and on the fifth of the same month, he fired and seriously injured Augustina Dominic in her supermarket.
“Wisdom has succeeded in sowing much fear before meeting his waterloo that many POS operators, filling stations, supermarket owners, market men and women have been defrauded of millions of naira.”
The statement continued, “Exhibits recovered from him include, among other things, cartridges, a Q-link motorcycle, various charms, and a mask that had been locally rebuilt to look like an AK-47.”
While expressing gratitude to the people of Akwa Ibom for providing helpful intelligence and to the brave SWAT and F-Division Ikot Ambang officers for their heroic efforts, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, issued a warning to criminal elements in the State, telling them to leave the State immediately or prepare to dance to the new song.
