Police in the FCT captured 11 wanted bandits while also recovering weapons and ammunition

The kidnapping and banditry group terrorizing Abuja and its surroundings has been disrupted, according to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, which claims to have apprehended Mohammed Hamza, also known as Auta, a wanted logistic supplier.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the suspect was apprehended by the command’s anti-kidnapping unit in the Mongoro Forest.

According to the PPRO, the suspect, who has been on the Command’s wanted list, is being detained for his alleged involvement in delivering food, illegal drugs, and firearms, ammunition, and other weapons to criminals using a motorcycle in their various hideouts in the woods.

She disclosed that the command’s agents had taken one AK-47 rifle, AK-47 ammo, one phone, food, and an unregistered boxer motorcycle from the suspect.

In another development, the Command reported that it had detained twelve additional criminal suspects for a variety of offenses, including illegal firearm possession, illegal small-arms production, and armed robbery, among others.

The State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) agents intercepted and detained the suspects, Aminu Mohammed, Mohammed Yusuf, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi, and Daniel Williams, in the Zuba neighborhood of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

One (1) live cartridge and four (4) locally made firearms were found on the suspects. The gang was engaged in locally manufactured small and light weapon production, according to preliminary police investigations.

Additionally, on July 6, 2023, at around 1900 hours, Utako Divisional Police Headquarters agents detained eight (8) suspected armed robbers at one Amala Garden in Utako after receiving a tip. Following the arrest, three different calibre firearms, knives, and hard drugs were found on them.
