On Friday, the Taraba State Police Command paraded 20 alleged kidnappers who are thought to be terrorising the region.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abdullahi Usman, who spoke about the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Jalingo, the state’s capital, the suspects were apprehended across the state.
It was established that the suspects’ possession of AK-47s and live ammo, which were on show for the media, had been seized.
Buhari Ishaku, Sule Mohammed, Tsino Buns Majidadi, Emmanuel Danlami, Hassan Dan’asabe, Hussein Kasimu, Husseini Mohammed, and Usman Hassan are only a few of the suspects the command paraded.
Others include Ibrahim Babangida, Haro Ibrahim, Abubakar Mohammed, Lawali Dogo, Gidai Ibrahim, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Okundu Godwin, and Ibrahim Abdullahi.
He claims that the suspects have admitted to the crime they perpetrated alongside other suspects who are now at large and that they will stop at nothing to be apprehended and brought to justice.
He claimed that the public outrage over the criminal elements’ activities forced the command to decide to conduct a manhunt for the criminals hibernating in several designated hot zones inside the state.
“To have a crime-free society where law-abiding citizens would be allowed to go about their lawful business without fear of being molested or intimidated by any quarters,” reads a statement from the Special Anti Kidnapping Unit and Special Striking Force attached to the government House.
“The Commissioner urges law-abiding Taraba State residents to work with the Police and other security agencies to help them carry out their constitutional responsibilities.”
