A total of 26 individuals have been detained by the Nasarawa State Police Command across the state for various offenses.
During a news conference on Wednesday at the command’s headquarters, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, said this.
The PPRO said that one recent accomplishment was the arrest of 10 alleged kidnappers who were apprehended on May 23 as a result of reliable information made available to a group of Mobile Policemen affiliated with Operation Restore Peace.
When the authorities discovered the kidnappers’ hiding place in the Ambaka village in the Farin Ruwa Development Area, Wamba LGA, they raided it and made the arrests.
He said that during the operation, two abduction victims were freed.
Some of the abductors detained are guys from the Ambaka village: Sale Adamu, 34; Idi Halilu, 27; Abdul Sale, 20; Mallam Gambo, 48; and Goma Halilu, 20.
According to the PPRO, on May 15, personnel from the Command’s anti-kidnapping section also detained two alleged gunrunners.
The two men, Gabriel Sati ‘M’, 41, of Dokan Kasuwa Village, Quan’pan LGA, Plateau State, and Omage Iliya ‘M’, 27, of Kofan Liman, Assakio, formed a plan and traveled to Assakio to buy three (3) AK-47 rifles for one million, one hundred thousand naira apiece.
The suspects admitted after questioning that they had been hired by Omage Obenu ‘M’ of Assakio to find the guns. They had bargained with the seller before Nemesis caught up with them at the location where they were supposed to meet and complete the transaction. Investigations are underway, and the suspects have provided valuable statements, the official said.
