Police in Katsina successfully stop kidnap attempt and neutralize 3 suspects
Three suspects were killed when the Katsina State Police Command allegedly broke up an abduction attempt along the Dutsinma-Kankara highway.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the command’s spokesman, verified this to reporters in Katsina on Sunday.

Based on reliable reports, on December 10, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Dutsinma-Kankara highway was blocked by a group of suspected armed robbers and kidnappers who were carrying lethal weapons such AK-47 rifles in an attempt to abduct unwary bystanders.
“As soon as Area Commander Dutsinma received the complaint, he immediately assembled a combined squad of police officers and vigilante members and dispatched them to the scene.
As the officers arrived on the site, the alleged kidnappers opened fire on the operatives. The officers bravely returned fire, eliminating three members of the gang.
The police spokesperson stated, “While one Masa’udu Sani, a member of the vigilante, sustained a gunshot wound on his right hand.”
While the investigation was ongoing, Sadiq-Aliyu said that Sani was responding to treatment and that attempts were being made to capture other suspects who were on the run.
He said that Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, the state’s commissioner of police, commended the agents for their bravery, professionalism, and teamwork.
He disclosed that the commissioner had given the cops instructions to maintain the current speed.
