When a terrorist attack was prevented in Yasore Village, Batsari LGA, Katsina State, police officers there said on Wednesday that numerous militants were likely killed.
Nevertheless, according to SP Gambo Isah, a spokesman for the command, only the corpses of two of the thugs have been found while searches are still being conducted to find or capture the rest of them hiding in the nearby bushes.
In addition, two ITEL GSM phones, five magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two AK-47 rifles, a number of illegal charms, and a black bag were found.
According to SP Gambo, who described the incident to reporters at the command’s headquarters, the DPO Batsari Division, which was in charge of a team of police and vigilantes, responded to the distress call right away and engaged the thugs in a bloody gunfight, preventing the attack on the community.
As a result, the command urged locals to report any person they found or saw who appeared to have an injury to the nearest police station.
The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, who is in charge of overseeing the polls, CP Kolo Yusuf, praised the efforts of the Police and the vigilante for their extraordinary display of bravery, gallantry, and professionalism in dealing with the hoodlums.
