Police in Katsina stop a kidnapping attempt, defeat a thief, and find an AK-47 gun
Armed bandits attempted to kidnap a person in Yankara village, Faskari LGA, Katsina, but the Katsina State Police Command stopped them, killing one of the criminals and recovering one AK-47 gun.
Around 05:00 on Monday, the heavily-armed criminals attacked the neighbourhood with deadly AK-47 rifles.
This was revealed in a statement by ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the command’s public relations officer. Immediately after the Faskari police division received the distress call, according to him, the command’s agents quickly mobilised policemen to the scene and engaged the criminals in a furious gun battle, forcing them to abandon their evil plans and retreat into surrounding bushes.
ASP Sadiq added that while searching the location of the incident, they also came across the dead body of one of the culprits and the seized AK-47 rifle. Bada Yaji, 25, a native of Dajin Dungu, Yartuwaru in the Faskari LGA, was identified by the speaker as the deceased suspect.
CP Aliyu Musa, the commissioner of the Katsina State Police, praised the officers’ bravery and valour during this operation.
In order to stop criminal activity, he pleaded with the public to keep giving law enforcement agencies important and timely information.
As some of the robbers may have suffered gunshot wounds while escaping, CP Musa further advised the public to report anyone with unusual injuries.
