The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended 54 suspects who were allegedly planning to disrupt the ongoing Sallah festivities across various parts of the state, as confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Usaini Gumel, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
The suspects were found in possession of an array of dangerous weapons and other items, such as cannabis, motorcycles, and various deadly weapons, which were seized by the authorities.
According to the police, intelligence reports indicated that these individuals were gathering under the pretense of being supporters of prominent political figures in the state, with intentions to disrupt the traditional Durbar organized by the Kano Emirate.

The Commissioner expressed concerns that such actions could potentially lead to a breakdown of law and order, emphasizing that the Sallah Durbar should not be politicized in any way.
He urged politicians to advise their followers to view the Sallah celebrations as a time for unity and tradition, rather than a platform for political demonstrations.
The police have intensified efforts to rid the streets of criminal elements, warning that further raids on identified hideouts will continue to ensure the safety and security of the public during the festive period.
