18 alleged kidnappers have been apprehended by the Nasarawa State Police Command from various parts of the state.
Ramhan Nansel, the police public relations officer, revealed the information on Friday in Lafia, the state’s capital.
Nansel stated that two suspects were detained while attempting to purchase more ammo and weapons and argued that the operation was successful because law enforcement took a proactive stance against criminal activity.
According to reports, the majority of the suspects have admitted to their role in the crimes and are actively helping the police.
Ramhan added that further inquiry had revealed a criminal hideout in Kaduna State’s Wassa village’s Sanga Local Government Area, where weapons had been successfully retrieved.
According to intelligence, he said, the police have detained suspected kidnappers who are thought to be operating in the Nassarawa-Eggon, Akwanga, and Kokona Local Government Areas of the state of Nasarawa.
Four other people were detained by the police on suspicion of participating in cult activities. Among the items retrieved from criminal hideouts were a vehicle, 11 rounds of ammo, and 4 guns.
The public, traditional leaders, other security services, and the media all contributed to the operation’s success, according to the PPRO.
But he added that the investigations were still underway and that the suspects will be brought up in court for prosecution once they were finished.
