On Sunday, the Kaduna State Police Command said that they had stopped two people riding motorcycles who they thought were selling guns. When they searched them, they found 344 rounds of ammunition on them.
In a statement released on Sunday in Kaduna, the command’s public relations officer, DSC Mohammed Jalige, claimed that during a surveillance patrol in the Basawa neighborhood of Tudun Wada Zaria, agents stopped two individuals riding an unregistered motorcycle with suspiciously hidden baggage.
When the police stopped them for a routine inspection, he claimed that one of the suspects fled the scene.
Following a search of the motorcycle rider, 10 cell phones, charms, 344 rounds of live 7.62mm ammo, and AK-47 weapons were found.
After he was caught, the suspect told the police that he and his partner who had gotten away were trying to get weapons for his gang. This was found out during the first investigation.
The announcement further revealed that the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police had mandated a thorough investigation to determine the origin and final resting place of the illegal weaponry. Additionally, he mandated the detention of the suspect’s allies.
The command also reassured the people that it would never stop trying to get rid of criminals.
