According to the Kaduna Police Command, 780 people were detained for various offences between January and December 2022.

During a press conference on Wednesday at the police headquarters in Kaduna, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police Yekini A. Ayoku highlighted a number of accomplishments made during the year, including the conviction of 116 criminals and the rescue of 206 abducted victims.

He claims that 1,359 live rounds of ammo and 49 firearms were found.

He continued by saying that 21 bandits had been neutralised and that 17 working motorcycles belonged to the bandits.

“1,446 rustled animals were discovered at various locations throughout the state, as well as 15 bundles of dried leaves thought to be Indian hemp,” he stated.

After the train attack on March 28, 2022, and the earlier security breach at the Kaduna International Airport general area, Ayoku, who took over as Kaduna State’s Commissioner of Police on April 8, 2022, said that the success against criminal elements in the state was due to coordination between security agencies and, most importantly, the support of the military and aerial patrol and surveillance from the Force Headquarters.

The goal was to keep the road open and secure for travellers because it was, at the time, the only significant route from Abuja and the southern region of the nation to Kaduna and other northern states. During the time under review, this goal was accomplished. By upgrading visibility policing and responding quickly to distress calls, the command was able to reduce any security concern on the roadway, he said.

In order to fulfil their constitutional mandate of guaranteeing public safety and security in their various areas of responsibility, he reportedly gave the seven area commands and 61 divisions the task of leveraging community policing strategy through enhancing police-community ties.
