Police in Jigawa stop planned armed robbery and detain suspects
An organized group of armed robbery suspects terrorizing Jigawa State and its surroundings has been apprehended by police.
In a statement given to reporters, the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed this information.
He claimed that the arrest followed the police commissioner’s directive to raid “hot spots” and criminal hideouts throughout the command.
He claims that on Friday, “a team of Policemen led by Divisional Police Officer Ringim Division, acting on actionable and credible intelligence that some armed criminals have perfected plans to embark on a notorious operation along Wudil/Garko Road under Kano State”
Police were able to apprehend Hassan Ya’u, 25, and Hamza Abdullahi, 22, who were in possession of a locally made revolver pistol with the aid of neighborhood vigilantes.
According to DSP Adam, two motorcycles and a pistol made in the area were recovered as a result of the SCID’s covert investigation.
He claimed that the suspects admitted to taking part in armed robberies in Jigawa State on the Gujungu/Miga Road, Kiyawa/Shuwarin Road, and Fanisau/Kano Road.
After the investigation is over, all suspects will face charges in court.
