In Jigawa State, police detained two suspected armed robbers as well as a narcotics dealer.

This was stated in a news release issued by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Jigawa State Police Command’s spokeswoman.

Adam claimed that the arrest was made possible by the proactive crime-prevention measures in place and the active cooperation of the Jigawa State Police Command and neighbourhood vigilantes and hunters in reducing crime in the state.

The following is stated: “On 20/02/2023, at approximately 0415 hrs, information was received from O/C Gujungu Market that there had been a robbery between Marke and Sundum village [in] Kaugama Local Government Area.

“The thieves stopped the road and plundered the traders returning from the monthly Gujungu market.”

After receiving the information, police responded to the location and cordoned off the jungle in cooperation with hunters and vigilante organisations in order to arrest the offenders.
