Police in Jigawa detain 10 suspects believed to be involved in vandalism

The Jigawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of ten individuals who are believed to be involved in acts of vandalism across various locations within the state.

In a statement released by DSP Shiisu Adams, the spokesperson for the command, it was revealed that these arrests were made as part of an ongoing effort to combat vandalism and protect critical infrastructure in the state.

Among the suspects apprehended, three were caught in Yalleman during an investigation into the vandalism of a transformer owned by Gajo Farm Yard.

Two of the suspects are from Yalleman town in Kaugama local government area, while the third is from Hadin village within the same locality.

Another suspect was captured in Mechanic village in Dutse town, where he was found in possession of a significant quantity of burnt copper wires that are suspected to have been stolen.

The suspect confessed to purchasing the wires for N30,000 from another suspect who is currently at large.

The police are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the principal suspect. Additionally, a four-man syndicate was intercepted along the Kazaure to Roni axis with an armored cable wire that is believed to have been vandalized.

Although the suspects attempted to flee upon seeing security operatives, they were eventually apprehended.

It was discovered that one of the suspects was a former employee of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).

During interrogation, the suspects admitted to vandalizing the cable that connected Roni and Gwiwa areas with power supply.

Furthermore, another suspect was arrested in Jahun and was found in possession of a burnt armored cable wire that is suspected to have been vandalized.
