In less than a week, police officers in Enugu State have arrested four people who are thought to be high-profile criminals. This is part of their efforts to hold people accountable who encourage crime and violence.
The agents found 31 live cartridges, the butt of a locally made gun, three locally made Beretta pistols, one pump action gun, one AK-47 rifle with 51 live 7.62mm rounds, and other incriminating items.
In a statement released on Thursday in Enugu, the police public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said that people suspected of terrorizing the locals were arrested between December 1 and December 6.
According to Ndukwe, the accomplishment was made possible by the state’s commissioner of police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani, who put in place the current operational and crime-fighting measures.
He explained that the commissioner had given police officers the responsibility of keeping up the pace of purging the state of persistent offenders while also urging the populace to keep providing the police with reliable information.

According to the PPRO, at 9:30 a.m. on December 6 in Akwuke, in the Awkunanaw axis of Enugu, police from the Anti-Cultism Squad arrested 36-year-old Ifeanyi Ngene based on good information.
According to a police spokesman, three firearms—one Pump Action with 25 live rounds, one AK-47 rifle with 51 live rounds of 7.62 caliber, and two AK-47 rifle magazines—were recovered from Ngene’s illegal possession.
He claimed that a senior police officer’s uniform, three black military belts, two forest guards’ embroidered black berets, and two walkie-talkies were all found at Ngene.
Additionally, Kenechi Ngwuenwo, 25, was detained by Central Police Station personnel on December 6 at around 4.40 p.m. as they were performing a stop-and-search on the Enugu-Onitsha Road near the New Market in Enugu.
“A locally made cut-to-size rifle with six live rounds was discovered in his illegal possession.”
Amaechi Precious, 25, was stopped and arrested on December 1 at 11.25 a.m. by police officers assigned to Police Mobile Force-3 while on heightened patrol at Ozalla-4-Corners-Udi Road while traveling from Abakaliki, Ebonyi, to Awka, Anambra.
“Three locally made Beretta handguns, one locally made gun butt, and other incriminating things were discovered in his illegal possession following the search.”
Following additional investigation, SWAT members of the Command detained Oforzoba Amandi, 26, in Anam in the Anambra West LGA of Anambra on December 2. He was thought to have gotten the guns and to be part of a criminal group.
Ndukwe stated that after the relevant investigations were finished, all suspects would be charged and put on trial.
