A Joint Security Task Force stormed the suspects’ hideaway camp in the Ogbaru Local Government Area’s Ugwuaneocha Community.
According to the Police Command in Anambra State, two individuals have been detained in relation to the assault on the US Consulate Convoy on Tuesday in the Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Seven people were slain in the assault, according to the police’s preliminary investigations. Three of the seven were representatives from the US Consulate, and four were escorted by mobile police.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng, commented on the development on Thursday. He said a Joint Security Task Force, made up of police tactical teams and soldiers from the Nigerian Army and Navy, stormed the suspects’ hideout in the Ugwuaneocha community within the Ogbaru LGA.
He claims that the security personnel found an empty camp when they arrived. While the camp was being destroyed, the Commissioner revealed that two people of interest had been detained and were being questioned by the police.
The victims, five male US Embassy staffers, and four armed police escorts from Lagos were on a mission to evaluate the effects of erosion in Ogbaru, the Commissioner added at the news conference at the State Police Command offices in Amawbia.
When the attack happened, they were traveling in a convoy of two cars.
Additional inquiries, according to the police chief, are being conducted, and the results will be made public when they are ready.
