Police in Abuja promise crackdown on vehicles lacking number plates

Benneth C. Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued an order prohibiting any vehicle operating a vehicle in Abuja with a single number plate or none at all.

This came about as the number of armed robberies—also referred to as “one chance” robberies—increased throughout the region.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, made a statement on Saturday night stating that the CP had directed that cars with one or no licence plates be seized and the driver arrested in order to face charges.

The majority of “one chance” robberies were connected to “vehicles with single or no number plates,” according to the PPRO.

People’s attention has been drawn to the criminal behaviour, and they are now beginning to doubt the police’s ability to effectively address the threat.

According to Obasanjonews.com, a number of gullible persons have persisted in losing their lives as well as belongings as a result of the dishonest people’s actions.

A one-time robbery in the capital of the country has left many residents missing and dead on the side of the road, according to family members.

Adeh claims that the police chief also issued a warning to local auto dealers about the dangers of letting their cars sit in unapproved parking lots.

Additionally, he issued a warning to them not to drive after the designated hour of six o’clock at night, threatening to bring the full force of the law down on anybody who do so.

She pointed out that the act violated Federal Capital Territory Road Transport Regulation Act, 2005, section 25(5).
