Three suspects, Uluko Adukwu, 28, Salisu Aduh, 38, and Adams Halilu, 24, have been detained by police in the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT.
SP Istifanus Sunday Bako, the Zone 7 Abuja Public Relations Officer, made the arrest public in a statement on Thursday.
On Wednesday, a detective squad descended onto Jikwoyi and Orozo along Karu in response to useful information.
The trio, who are all citizens of the capital city and are from the state of Kogi, were apprehended together with two boys, aged 11 and 13, who were thought to be their victims.
The group admitted, according to Bako, to employing charms to scam individuals and supplying charms to Yahoo Plus-style ritualist online fraudsters.
The authorities highlighted that con artists utilise the charms on their targets in turn, which occasionally results in the death of some of the victims.
The suspects’ possessions included 15 mobile phones, a Toyota Prado, a Lexus 330, and three empty coffins.
Women’s knickers and apparel that belonged to the victims’ deceased bodies were also found.
When it comes to their places of worship, people should exercise caution and report any suspicious activity to the police, according to Zone 7 AIG Kayode Egbetokun (now DIG).
