In an effort to combat the issue of kidnapping, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has made significant progress by apprehending 85 criminal suspects in Abuja.

This operation took place over a span of five days, from March 31 to April 4, 2024.

The police conducted a series of well-coordinated raids on known black spots and criminal hideouts located in the Durumi and Dei-Dei areas of Abuja, which are notorious for harboring criminals.

The suspects were arrested for a wide range of offenses, including the illegal construction of structures and shanties, drug trafficking, and the production of counterfeit currencies.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that during the operation, search warrants were executed, leading to the discovery of various incriminating items.

These items included counterfeit currencies in both local and foreign denominations, light weapons, eight motorcycles, seven generators, electronic devices, and numerous ATM cards suspected to have been stolen.

Adeh further stated that all the arrested individuals would undergo a thorough screening process, and those found guilty would be profiled and brought before the court.

Additionally, the illegal wooden structures erected by the criminals were dismantled and set on fire as a deterrent to prevent these areas from becoming breeding grounds for criminal activities.
