Police have verified abduction of 10 people in Jalingo, capital of Taraba State

The state capital of Jalingo’s Wuro Musa neighbourhood saw the kidnapping of ten people, as reported by the Taraba State Police Command on Friday.

Usman Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, stated that the victims were taken in the wee hours of Friday.

After declaring that the kidnappers were being pursued by the police, Abdullahi asked anyone with pertinent information about the incident to get in touch with the police or any other security organisation.

“Ten people were kidnapped in Wuro Musa at approximately 00.40 hours,” he stated.

In an interview with Obasanjo News24, a few community members implored the state administration to work with the security services to save the victims’ lives.

It was reported that the abductors descended upon the region in large numbers, intermittently firing into the air to intimidate the locals and keep them from reaching their intended targets.

The homeowners also mentioned that no security personnel were visible during the several hours the kidnappers were operating.

In contrast to the numbers released by the police, the locals informed our reporter that 13 people—four of them were women—had been abducted.
