Police have arrested former Boko Haram after killing his ex-wife
Police in Borno have detained Musa Dauda, a repentant Boko Haram member who is accused of killing and burying his ex-wife, Hafsat Musa, at a field near the Muhammad Goni stadium in Maiduguri.
Dauda invited 45-year-old Hafsat to a meeting with him on her farm on the grounds of the stadium on September 12th, according to Maiduguri-based police spokesman ASP Sani Kamilu.
After accepting the offer, Kamilu said that Hafsat was nowhere to be found.
The body of Hafsat’s decomposing body was found on the farm by her relatives a few days after the incident was first brought to the police’s attention, continued Kamilu.
The police, according to him, acted quickly, responded to the scene, and sent Hafsat’s body to the Umaru Shehu Ultramodern Hospital in Maiduguri for an autopsy.
Kamilu added that Dauda confessed to the crime after his arrest on Thursday, September 21.
Dauda claimed, he continued, that he spotted Hafsat on the farm with someone else, and he hit her in the head with a hoe before she collapsed and passed away.
Kamilu claimed that once Dauda had buried Hafsat on the farm, she had left.
After the inquiry was complete, Kamilu promised that the suspect would be charged.
