Police Gun Down Four Kidnappers, Recover N3 Million Ransom

Security operatives have neutralized four suspected kidnappers in a fierce encounter, recovering N3 million in ransom money during the operation.

In Kebbi State, Nigeria, police operatives have neutralized four alleged kidnappers, rescued a victim, and recovered N3 million in the Suru Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi Police Command, provided details about the operation.

On February 14, at approximately 1:45 p.m., armed individuals believed to be kidnappers invaded Gobiraje Village in the Suru Local Government Area and kidnapped a 60-year-old man named Umaru Bawa.

After receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Suru quickly organized a team of police officers and local vigilantes to head to the location. They followed the suspects into Tundafari forest near Dakingari, where a fierce gunfight took place.

“As a result, four of the kidnappers were neutralized; one was arrested despite having life-threatening injuries, while the remaining individuals escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds,” Abubakar stated.

He also disclosed that the kidnapped victim was safely rescued without any harm, and officers were able to recover N3 million that had been paid as ransom.

After the operation, Mr. Bello Sani, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi, praised the officers involved for their bravery, professionalism, and effective strategic execution.

The commissioner reiterated the command’s steadfast dedication to addressing criminal activities in the state.

Abubakar further emphasized the importance of staying alert and immediately reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station for a quick response.
