The Katsina State Police Command reported that its agents killed two terrorists and recovered one Ak-47 rifle and five rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition when they thwarted an attempt at kidnapping in Tani village, Bindawa LGA.
The new spokesman of the command, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, said in a statement that terrorists armed with AK-47 rifles stormed the community firing randomly before attacking the home of Yahaya Usman, one of the villagers, with a knife in an attempt to kidnap him.
The kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the prompt intervention of the Bindawa Divisional Police Officer and his team upon receiving the report, which resulted in a fierce gun battle.
Sani Kokaya and Ummara, both from Kaita Local Government Area (LGA) in the state, were identified as the two suspected militants and arms traffickers whose carcasses were recovered.
According to ASP Sadiq, they have both been placed on the command’s sought list.
