Detectives from Force Headquarters in Abuja, along with operatives from the Delta State Police Command, recently conducted a successful operation that resulted in the arrest of a Cameroonian national and two Nigerians involved in kidnapping activities.

This three-man gang had gained notoriety for targeting unsuspecting residents in the Orerokpe, Sapele, and Warri areas of Delta State.

One of the suspects is based in Kaduna, while the other two are from Kogi and Cameroon, respectively.

The investigation was prompted by intelligence gathered on a series of kidnapping incidents in the Warri area, which pointed towards a 20-year-old Kaduna resident named Yakubu Ya’u.

Ya’u was known to frequently visit Oha and Ughwagba communities in Okpe Local Government Area, where he would kidnap victims for ransom.

Under the leadership of DSP Paul Oboware, the DPO of Orerokpe Division, the detectives successfully tracked down Ya’u to his hideout in Warri and apprehended him.

During questioning, Ya’u provided crucial information that led the police to the other two members of the gang, Musa Yakubu from Kogi State and Abdulahi Mohammed from Cameroon.

It is believed that this gang was responsible for numerous kidnapping incidents in the Orerokpe, Sapele, and Warri areas of Delta State.

Several victims were able to identify the suspects, and as a result, the detectives were led to Ughwagba, where they discovered two pump-action guns, one live cartridge, and a knife buried in a bush.

The Delta State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend any other members of the gang who may still be at large.
