The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), often known as the Shia movement, is suspected of being behind the attacks on the convoy of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The Bakin Ruwa axis of the Rigasa, Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway was cleared by security personnel attached to the governor’s convoy, according to a statement by the Command’s spokesman, DSP Mohammed Jalige, after armed thugs believed to be IMN members attacked law-abiding citizens and blocked motorists from using the route.

He said that on Thursday at around 3 p.m. when the governor of Kaduna state’s convoy arrived at the location, a big group of hoodlums were discovered intimidating innocent bystanders.
He claims that the thugs opened fire with firearms or stones as soon as they spotted the convoy, striking many private vehicles as well as several that were part of the convoy.
The security guards dealt with the troublemakers in a professional manner without resorting to physical force, and several of the criminals who were clearly IMN members were taken into custody. He said that an investigation is still continuing.
