Police detain nine suspects in Yobe for culpable homicide
The Yobe State Police Command has reported the arrest of nine suspects for culpable homicide in two separate incidents that took place in Damaturu, the state capital.
According to the Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the first incident occurred on March 29, 2024, at around 6:30 pm when a distress call was received by the operatives of Area Command from Mohammed Sani of Nayi-Nawa Ward.
The call reported that Muhammed Muhammed had stabbed his 19-year-old son, Hashimu Mohammed, with a knife following a heated argument, resulting in the victim’s death due to excessive blood loss before reaching the hospital.
The suspect initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by the authorities.

In a separate incident on April 3, 2024, at approximately 9:00 pm, another distress call was received from Usman Abba of Nayi-Nawa Ward.
The call detailed that a group of young individuals, aged between 17 and 20 years old, from Nayi-Nawa Ward, had brutally beaten and stabbed Usman’s 17-year-old son, Mamman Usman, resulting in his immediate death.
Currently, eight of the suspects involved in this incident have been arrested, while the police are actively pursuing the remaining culprit who managed to flee the scene.
