Mrs. Toluige Olokoobi’s suicide, Edo State police have detained her husband.
Olokoobi was the mother of Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, the young child whose video went viral in 2020 when he begged his mother to “calm down.”
Oreofeoluwa rose to fame on social media following the viral video of him sobbing as he tried to boldly appeal to his mother, who chastised him.

At the time, the film served as motivation for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who used it to deliver a message on Eid-el-Kabir to Muslims and Lagos citizens in general, urging them to be calm amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The governor praised the child for his bravery and calmness when he and his family visited with him.
Sad news of the boy’s mother’s suicide surfaced on social media on Tuesday, three years after the occurrence.
According to a user on X, Olokoobi killed himself in Benin, the capital of Edo State, for unknown reasons.
Before killing herself, the X user stated, she had refused to talk to anyone about her troubles. He claimed to have witnessed the incident on Monday afternoon.
“Here in Benin, the woman from the widely shared ‘Mummy Calm Down’ video has just taken her own life,” he said.
She declined to discuss her issues with anyone. Three children, including the well-known Mummy Calm Down boy, were left behind for her spouse.
In the meantime, Olokoobi’s passing was verified by Edo State Police Command spokesperson Chidi Nwabuzor during a conversation with BBC Pidgin. He informed her that her spouse was being held and taken into custody to be questioned.
Nwabuzor stated that the spouse called the police about the situation.
The husband claimed, according to a police spokeswoman, that “he came home from the market when he saw his wife hanging with rope on her neck.”
Nwabuzor claimed that upon her confirmation as dead, she was taken to the hospital and subsequently placed in a mortuary.
