Police detain an inspector after gunshots were fired to mark the reopening of Ladipo Market

In response to viral recordings showing Inspector Kwanchi firing AK-47 rounds while celebrating the reopening of the well-known Ladipo Market in Lagos State, the force’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, demanded an immediate investigation.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, a member of a Lagos squadron of the Mobile Police (MOPOL), has been identified as the guy in the viral video shown firing an AK-47 weapon at the Ladipo Market.

When Inspector Kwanchi was seen firing AK-47 bullets in viral videos celebrating the reopening of the well-known Ladipo Market in Lagos State, the Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, immediately demanded an investigation.

In a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, Lagos Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the inspector’s detention on Wednesday.

He claimed that the officer will face disciplinary action right away for his unprofessional, unethical, and dangerous actions after Lagos State Command Commissioner of Police CP Idowu Owohunwa ordered it.

The police reassured the public that the Command will not accept any type of improper conduct from its officers and men and that those found guilty will be dealt with in accordance with established procedures.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said on Tuesday that the police would look into the viral footage. “We will identify the man with the AK47 and take the necessary action,” he added. Thanks.”
