The primary suspect in the murder of Dr. Fumilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Minna, has been taken into custody by Niger State police.

Wasiu Abiodun, the police public relations officer, announced the arrest of the main suspect while claiming that two other suspects who were involved in the crime were still at large. He said there was still work to be done to capture them.
According to a police spokesman, the 14-year-old juvenile prime suspect worked as a domestic assistant to the late Dr. Adefololu for over three weeks.
According to a police spokesperson, the suspect admitted to planning to attack the lecturer at her home on Saturday, 28 October, with a motorbike, together with two of her friends, Walex and Smart. She then surfaced at the gate, with the late lecturer opening it for her.

She claimed, “The suspect admitted during questioning that she worked as the deceased’s housemaid for roughly three weeks before being fired for misbehaving in the home.”
“She met Walex and Smart, two of her classmates, after she was fired. She told them about her experience and they planned to attack the lecturer at her house.
“Afekafe reported that on October 28, 2023, at around 1600 hours, they rode up to the lecturer’s house on a motorbike, and she surfaced at the gate, with the lecturer opening it for her.
Later, Walex and Smart came in, smashed the lecturer’s head with a stool, and then stabbed her multiple times with a knife that Walex had brought and a second knife that Smart had taken from the kitchen.
While efforts are being made to apprehend other suspects who are escaping, Abiodun stated that the suspect will be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for more investigation and diligent prosecution.
