During a visit to the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, announced the establishment of a Special Operation Squad by the Nigeria Police Force.
This squad will be deployed immediately in Plateau State as part of the efforts to address the prevailing insecurity in the region.
The Inspector General emphasized the seriousness of this intervention by mentioning the deployment of tactical and intelligence units.
He also highlighted the commencement of a special operation on the plateau, which will serve as the foundation for the special intervention squad.
This initiative aligns with the plan to establish such squads in ten pilot states across Nigeria, with Plateau State being one of them. Therefore, the commencement of this special operation marks the official start of the special intervention squad’s activities in the state.
The plea for the cooperation of the people of Plateau in the fight against criminals emphasizes the importance of collective effort to achieve victory.
The appeal is directed towards the people, urging them to work together with security agencies, provide information, and actively participate in combating the criminals. It is emphasized that this war is not against any specific tribe or group, but against the criminals who have declared war on the state.
The visit of the Inspector General of Police to Plateau state aims to assess the security situation and ensure the protection of areas affected by recent attacks.
These attacks have resulted in numerous casualties, injuries, and destruction of properties. Prior to the IGP’s visit, another community in Bokkos Local Government was attacked, resulting in the destruction of homes but no loss of life.
