Two men have been arraigned by police for allegedly stealing pandrol clips from a railway line, raising concerns about railway security. Read more about the incident.
Mr. Ezekiel Ogunbiyi, 32, and Wasiu Sule, 42, were charged by the police on Thursday in an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing pandrol clips valued at N220,000.
The two, whose addresses were withheld, entered a not guilty plea to charges of conspiracy and theft.
Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants had committed the offenses on September 14, at approximately 7:21 a.m., in the Bode-Igbo neighborhood of Ibadan.
According to Adegbite, the defendants purportedly took 44 pandrol clips that belonged to the Nigeria Railway Corporation.

According to him, the offenses were under Oyo State’s 2000 Criminal Laws, Sections 517 and 390(9).
The accused were granted bail by Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho in the amount of N100,000 apiece, accompanied by two trustworthy sureties in the same amount.
She postponed the case’s hearing until December 10.
