The Imo State Police Command successfully apprehended Chidebere Nwuzor, a suspected terrorist linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN), as reported by the Command’s Spokesman, Henry Okoye.

Hailing from Amauzu in the Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area, the 38-year-old suspect had been a target of the Command for his alleged involvement in various terrorist activities within the state.

Okoye emphasized that Nwuzor was captured at his criminal sanctuary in Umuogi after a confrontation with law enforcement officers, during which he was found in possession of dangerous weapons such as a pump-action gun, a berretta pistol, and other incriminating items.

The items recovered from the suspect included a pump-action gun with six live cartridges, a Barreta Pistol loaded with two rounds of live ammunition, and various other incriminating items. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of a dangerous IPOB/ESN syndicate that enforced sit-at-home orders and caused chaos in the state, as stated by Okoye.

The suspect revealed that he was recruited into the group by Ebube Virus and Ishaka, who were eliminated by operatives in December 2023. Additionally, he admitted to driving the vehicle used in the attack that resulted in the death of DPO Ahaizu Mbaise, an Inspector of Police, in November 2023.

Okoye mentioned that the suspect was cooperating with the investigation, providing valuable information that could lead to the arrest of other suspects, and would face legal consequences once the investigation was completed. The police spokesman emphasized the command’s commitment to eradicating violent crimes in the state and praised the operatives for their bravery in achieving this breakthrough.

The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, assured the public that the Command would continue to pursue criminal elements relentlessly.
