Police Bring Three Men to Court for Alleged Theft of N72.8m in Adamawa

Three persons have been charged by the Adamawa State Police Command with stealing N72 million from a firm in a magistrate court.
Under the supervision of Muhammad Buba, the Chief Magistrate I in Yola is arraigning the defendants, Abdulrashed Waziri, 36; Richard Moses, 42; and Uche Sunday, 32, for allegedly stealing the money.

Charges of theft, misappropriation, and criminal breach of trust are being tried against the accused.

Abdulrashed and the other two accused individuals are suspected of taking N72.818 million from Saro Agro-Science Limited, a business situated in the Ganye Local Government Area.

The police prosecution claimed that three people plotted to steal the money: Richard, a market sales agent; Abdulrashed, a storekeeper; and Uche, a van sales representative.

The company’s regional business chief, Olajide Oladeji, reported the issue to the Adamawa police, according to ASP Zakka Musa, the prosecuting police officer.

According to Zakka, Olajide had alleged that on September 25, 2023, Caleb Akinteye, the location manager overseeing Ganye’s office, had found out that the three employees had embezzled corporate funds.

He said that after the defendants sold the company’s goods and realised N48 million was missing from the company’s account, the management audited the company’s stocks at the company warehouse and discovered over N24 million in missing stock, bringing the total amount of unaccounted money to N72.818 million.
