The defendant committed the act on December 26 at Ikere, Ekiti, according to Police Prosecutor Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, who briefed the court.
He said the defendant stabbed Ilesanmi Taiwo with a shattered bottle during a scuffle, seriously injuring his neck and right hand.
The offence, he continued, violated Section 255 of the Ekiti State, 2021 Criminal Laws.
In order to review the case file and introduce his witnesses, the prosecutor requested a postponement of the hearing from the judge.
To the charge that was preferred against him, the defendant, however, entered a not guilty plea.
Mrs. Kike Owolabi, the defendant’s attorney, pleaded with the judge to release the man on bond, promising not to elude justice.
The defendant was given N100,000 bail by Magistrate Dolapo Babalogbon, along with one surety in the same amount. The matter was subsequently postponed until January 31 for a hearing.
