Two suspects connected to banditry have been apprehended by the Katsina State Police Command, and stolen livestock has also been recovered.
Through joint cooperation between the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and local hunters, arrests were made in Jibia Local Government Area.
On July 25, 2024, the suspects who were transporting stolen livestock near Magama cemetery in Jibia LGA’s Zandam village was apprehended by a police team from Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. The KSCWC and hunters also aided in making these arrests.
ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu- the command’s Public Relations Officer stated that two rams, one sheep, and a goat were amongst the animals recovered.

The stolen livestock was acknowledged by the suspects to have been obtained from Nura, a well-known bandit chief still at large in Mazanya village. According to reports, the perpetrators were in transit with intentions of vending these animals at Magama market situated in Jibia.
According to the suspects, they had been handling stolen livestock from the bandit mastermind on a regular basis. The police are actively chasing after the fugitive leader and maintaining their inquiry.
The Katsina State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, continues to fiercely battle against armed banditry in the area – a fact exemplified by this latest operation.
