Police Arrest TickToker for Threatening Violence Amid Protest

A TickToker was apprehended by police after issuing threats of violence during a protest. Discover the details behind the arrest and the implications for social media conduct.

Suleiman Yakubu, a TickToker has been arrested by the Plateau State Police Command for allegedly making threats to cause harm to security agents during the upcoming nationwide protest.

According to the command, it was disclosed that in the viral video footage, the culprit could be heard urging members of the public to assault security personnel present in the state.

The police reported that “Dam-Mallam68”, a young man who owns a TikTok account, encouraged potential protestors to set fire to essential State and private structures in Plateau State during the August 1 demonstration.

On Sunday, the command’s spokesperson DSP Alfred Alabo announced in a statement that an individual residing in Jos North was apprehended on Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos with the assistance of a trustworthy informant.

While being held in custody, the suspect admitted to being the individual featured in the viral video.

Considering the above, it is important to note that the Commissioner of Police strongly opposes any action by individuals seeking to cause havoc in the State and will take strict measures to prevent such occurrences.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the State both prior to, during, and after the protest.

According to the statement, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina of Plateau State emphasized that it is important for citizens to abide by the law and avoid making any remarks that could disrupt peace and security in the state.
