Nigerian police have apprehended suspected fraudsters and rejected a $17,000 bribe offered for their release, demonstrating a firm stand against corruption.

The Zone 16 Police Command has arrested three individuals on suspicion of involvement in drug-related offenses and fraudulent activities.

SP Gunn Emonena, the spokesperson for the command, stated that a targeted operation by the Zonal Financial and Cyber Crime Unit led to these arrests.

Based on reliable intelligence, officers conducted a raid in the Rumukparali Community within Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State, resulting in the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects, Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike, allegedly confessed to impersonating Ryam Bill, a legal professional based in the U.S., and defrauding two victims—St. Andrea and Charlen Zielinsky—of $71,500.

During a search of the premises, officers reportedly seized suspected illicit hemp, two vehicles, two laptops, and ten mobile phones.

He also mentioned that the Nigeria Police Force, led by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, is unwavering in its commitment to safeguard and protect all citizens.

The case is anticipated to go to court, where the evidence will be presented as exhibits and include items that have been confiscated along with recorded bribe money.
