Police arrest Agbazuere, former Chief of Staff to Ikpeazu

Prof. Anthony Agbazuere, a former chief of staff to Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, and the PDP’s candidate for the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency in the general election of 2023, has been placed under arrest by the Abia State Police Command.

At the moment, he is being held at the Umuahia CP’s Office on Bende Road.

An assets recovery tribunal established by the current Abia State Government had invited him.

According to rumours, the former chief of staff also filed a lawsuit in the Federal High Court against the Panel for intimidating and harassing him over a Prado Jeep that the government of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu had given him.

Remember that two weeks prior, Anthony Agbazuere was given a bench warrant by the panel’s chairman, Justice Florence Doruoha-Igwe (Rtd), for his failure to appear before the panel.

Judge Florence claims that Agbazuere’s warrant was issued because he neglected to appear in court in relation to a Toyota Hilux Land Cruiser that he purportedly owned since leaving office.

Judge Doruoha-Igwe (Rtd) ordered Agbazuere’s detention and production for additional cross-examination, postponing the case until January 24, 2024.

The Abia state police command, according to Police Public Relations Officer ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the development to our reporter in Umuahia. obtained an arrest warrant from the judicial panel investigating the recovery of funds from government properties and related issues.

“The command executed the warrant this morning, and he has been given to the panel,” she said in closing.
