Police Arrest 13-Year-Old Informant for Bandits

Police have arrested a 13-year-old who served as an informant for bandits. Discover the details and the impact on local security.

In Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the spokesperson for the command made public the announcement of an arrest.

Sadiq-Aliyu reported that on July 3, working together with Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) operatives stationed in Dansoda village of Dandume Local Government Area, they arrested a suspect who is only 13 years old.

The boy was taken into custody under suspicion of aiding and abetting armed banditry while living in Sheik Abdullahi quarters located in Dandume town. Law enforcement acted on intelligence reports that suggested the individual aided the bandits by identifying potential targets for their crimes.

Sadiq-Aliyu added that the suspect acknowledged responsibility for the offense and revealed an accomplice called Abba, who is currently on the run.

Additionally, the boy admitted to engaging in numerous assaults on Unguwar Bawa village during which the gang abducted people and raided livestock.

Musaddik Abdullahi, a suspected member of a kidnapping-for-ransom syndicate notorious for their activities, was arrested by the police in another operation. The authorities also apprehended Abdulaziz Shehu (18) and Umar Lawal (21) who were allegedly involved in theft and fraud cases pertaining to point-of-sale machines; they are accused of replacing legitimate POS devices with fake ones to deceitfully withdraw money from victims’ accounts.

Additional apprehensions occurred in Babbar Ruga village situated at Batagarawa Local Government Area, where three persons were held for allegedly furnishing intelligence to the infamous bandit chieftain, Mustafa Dan-Gambo.

Several criminal activities have been associated with Dan-Gambo.
