The Rivers State Police Command has verified that four of its agents have been apprehended in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a Port Harcourt hotel employee and the following demand for a ransom to release him.

The hotel employee, only known as Darlington, was allegedly abducted last Friday at approximately 8 p.m. after he was detained by police officers near Choba in the state’s Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The man’s phone and corpse were reportedly examined by the rogue police, but nothing implicating was discovered on him.

But the police allegedly kidnapped the man and threatened to kill him after finding out where he was working—a tactic they had previously used against victims who defied them.

After killing him and calling him a kidnapper, the operatives demanded a N1 million ransom and threatened to dump his body into the Choba River.

According to reports, the man was placed inside a truck by the police, who then followed him around the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state until they relocated him to a bush close to Aluu.

At a Port Harcourt function, state Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu verified the officers’ apprehension and declared them to be in custody.
“I heard about that incident on social media, but I went to town with my officers to work on it,” CP Disu said.

I’m here to confirm that the cops who interacted with the victim have been taken into custody. I’m awaiting victim complaints so I know exactly what to be on the lookout for.
