Lagos Governor: Police and Sanwo-Olu will be held accountable for threats on Ndigbo and Ohanaeze
Before Saturday’s governorship election, the leading Igbo sociocultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, responded vehemently to a new threat made against the Igbo in Lagos State.
In a viral video, MC Oluomo was seen yelling for Igbos to stay at home if they didn’t support the All Progressives Congress, or APC. He continued by assuring the party’s followers that they are aware of what to do in the event that they find themselves losing somewhere. Wild condemnations of the threat have been coming from all throughout the nation.
The National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, stated in a statement made available to media on Friday that it is puzzling that neither Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, nor the Nigerian police have commented on the open threat.
Ndigbo have reportedly remained to be an endangered species in Lagos State, despite the nation’s pride in being one Nigeria, according to Okwu. This infuriated Ohanaeze, he claimed.
We are concerned by the most recent threat made by MC Oluomo, a representative of the Lagos State Government, who threatened to commit genocide against the Igbo in Lagos if they did not support Sanwo-Olu.
We won’t ignore this menace because there are too many of them. The authorities, such as Governor Sanwo-Olu and the police, are giving implicit support to the political thugs who are maiming Ndigbo and destroying their homes in Lagos State by remaining silent.

“But, we want to issue this word of caution, and we want to call the attention of the world community to the fact that the governor should be held accountable as the state’s chief security officer if any Igbo man or woman is killed in Lagos State, whether tomorrow or after the election.
“The police hierarchy, who have not only refrained from placing MC Oluomo under arrest but have also remained silent, will also bear responsibility for any disgraceful outcome that befalls our people.”
Okwu urged the Ndigbo in Lagos to vote for the candidate of their choice, come out in force, and be prepared to defend and protect themselves instead of allowing themselves to be intimidated. Nobody should prevent you from using your right to vote tomorrow to defeat peace opponents.
