Whether Russian or Ukrainian missiles were responsible for the reported explosion is the subject of contradictory accounts.
In response to allegations of a fatal attack close to Poland’s border with Ukraine, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has convened an urgent meeting of the government’s national security and defence council.
Following claims that two individuals had died in an “explosion” that was reportedly brought on by a missile attack, Poland is said to have ordered the deployment of fighter fighters.
According to Visegrad 24, the Polish military and prosecutors have arrived at the bomb site.
A picture of what it claimed to be a missile fragment from an S-300 defence system was posted on the Russian Mash Telegram account.
Ukraine makes use of this equipment from the Soviet period.
Other sources have blamed Russia in the interim.
Earlier on Wednesday, Moscow launched dozens of missiles at Ukraine.
Blasts reportedly hit the town of Przewodow, which is situated in the Lublin area not far from the Ukrainian border, earlier, according to Polish media.
According to local media, an attack on a grain drying factory resulted in at least two fatalities.
Senior Captain Marcin Lebiedowicz, a representative of the local fire department, told Radio Lublin that “the reasons for this occurrence are not understood at this time.” He acknowledged the existence of victims and reported that his organization had “got a report of an explosion.”
Piotr Mueller, a spokesman for the Polish government, also urged “not to broadcast unsubstantiated information” in the media and public.
According to AP, two persons were killed by Russian missiles that crossed into Poland, according to a “senior US intelligence official.” Mueller simply described the occurrence as a “crisis scenario,” declining to comment on the reports.
So yet, neither Kyiv nor Moscow have offered any comments on the event.
