Senator Shehu Sani has claimed that the display of Russian flags by protesters in northern states such as Kano and Zamfara was part of a plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Some EndBadGovernance protesters have raised concerns about the flying of foreign flags in northern states.
The captured protestors were observed waving the flag of Russia in multiple video clips and advocating for military governance in Nigeria.
Several arrests have been made by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF and other security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), with regards to individuals involved in this matter.
During his appearance on Tuesday’s program on Channels Television, Shehu Sani claimed that the development was an effort by certain parties to topple the government.
According to him, the younger generation received money and Russian flags were distributed a day prior to the final demonstration.
This demonstrates that the protest’s purpose extends beyond critiquing government policies and programs.
An attempt was made to create an environment for the overthrow of the government.
